Born to a Ndebele father and Sotho mother, Sihlobo Bukhosi Moyo grew up immersed in a rich blend of traditions, languages, and visual culture. From sketching with charcoal at his grandmother’s fireplace to shaping clay while herding cattle, creativity became his way of navigating identity and belonging.
A self-taught artist, Moyo later studied Art and Design during his teaching course (2018–2022), developing a multidisciplinary practice across drawing, painting, ceramics, and textiles. His work bridges tradition and contemporary expression, often exploring the unseen “veils” people wear — resilience, inner struggles, and quiet hope.
Moyo has received recognition through two PRACA Art Awards and features in Chronicles, with exhibitions such as Salon Vanguard and CONTRA.Joburg amplifying his vision of art as both mirror and healer. Now based in South Africa, he continues to weave traditional craftsmanship with contemporary storytelling, creating works that speak to the shared human experience.
