Born to a Ndebele father and Sotho mother, Sihlobo Bukhosi Moyo grew up immersed in a blend of cultural traditions, languages, and visual storytelling. From sketching with charcoal taken from his grandmother’s fireplace to shaping clay while herding cattle, art became a way of making sense of the world and expressing identity.
A self-taught artist, Moyo later studied Art and Design during his teaching course (2018–2022), refining a practice that now spans ceramics, painting, charcoal drawing, and textiles. His multidisciplinary approach is rooted in both tradition and experimentation, reflecting a belief that art should be as layered and diverse as life itself.
Moyo’s works often explore the unseen “veils” people wear — masks of composure, inner struggles, and enduring hope. His practice has earned him two PRACA Art Awards and recognition in Chronicles, with exhibitions including Salon Vanguard and CONTRA.Joburg amplifying his vision of art as mirror and healing.
